Hi everyone,
I think I'm the newbie on the block....... So here goes...
My name is Dennis Burke, an as my mother has told me I've been drawing since I was 2 years old when I ruined the freshly hung wallpaper in my parents house w/ moms lipstick I stole from her purse. See, I thought ruby red looked better on the walls than those boring contemporary patterns...
More to the point, I've been really drawing since I was about 11 years old when I discovered comic’s books. Went through high school w/ great visual artistic marks... got an awesome recommendation to go to art school... and did I get in Mass Art or RISD... nope. So I did the next best thing at the time... I went to Architecture school. Did that for 3 years or so and soon found out that drawing buildings and learning about the tensile strength of a bridge holding 200 tons isn't the same as when you played w/ legos as a kid.
I've worked for Stonehill College from 1997-2000 as their Artistic Director for the Fall and Spring theater productions. I've submitted to Marvel, DC Comics, Wizard Entertainment, never been published... but I'll keep drawing Spider-man and Batman etc as I'm way more comfortable talking about art (in all mediums) and working behind my drafting desk.
I'm a bit old school as I do most of my work by hand on paper, comic sheets, Strathmore paper. Then inking them by hand. I'm not foreign to using a PC for editing/drawing, but just prefer working w/ a pencil and sharpie. I've used Photoshop and Illustrator (a wee' bit).
Currently I work in Information Technology and cannot stand it. Been in a career slump for about 5 years, but I.T. pays the bills for now.
I answered a post Jessica had sent to an online employment forum looking for a comic book illustrator an it has now rolled into this, becoming an intern artist for GEF. So far she's been awesome to work for, learn from and communicate with. Not to mention the subject matter constantly changing from project to project has become an exciting challenge. It’s more so been a pleasure to do art for someone who has a genuine need for it.
I look forward to meeting you all. Thanks for your time. - Dennis B.

Hey everyone,
My name is Julianna Rose and recently graduated from Smith College this last December majoring in Studio Art (I mostly work in Illustrator and Flash). I was thinking maybe we could start posting our recent projects for GEF up here? Jessica sends me examples of other projects every now and then and they are always pretty motivating/inspiring. I would really love to see more ... I guess I'll start. This was the most recent poster I did for GEF (which took two tries, because before I saw other examples, I will admit my first go around was pretty pathetic).

better late than never...
At least I hope to think so.
Its the last day of classes for the fall and I am waiting for 2:00 to come around for my final graphic design 3 presentation to get underway.
So about myself-
I am Alyssa Kelly, a senior at the New England School of Art and Design at Suffolk University. I live in Dorchester currently and am originally from Plymouth, MA. I was actually hoping to be an illustration major however, NESAD doesn't offer that currently and I got a full scholarship so I made a sacrifice and went for graphic design.
On my free time I draw, read, and lounge. I'm probably the most laid back home-body you'll ever meet.
So enough about me... how is everyone else doing with their work? I am assuming its crunch time. Good luck!

When u know u r an artist...
Hello, everyone!
I am Mariam - known as "the people's person".
I go to New England Art Institute of Brookline for my MBA in Graphic Design. I expect to be graduating in May 2010. Can't wait...
I was in Law School for 2 years - out of disappointment in the system, I quitted and decided to become an artist - A way of making justice through the arts, I guess.
I'm Lebanese and Brazilian; I speak Arabic, Portuguese and hopefully English...hehehe.
Other then "mistaken the TV remote's control for a keyboard" trying to "back up channels" (hint: when u know u r an artist), I work as a server in Winthrop, by the sea...I mean, the restaurant is by the sea, I have to work inside...where the sun gets too shy to enter...hehehe. Ok, enough revealing...
Working with GEF is already being a pleasure!
Can't wait to meet you all!

Let the games begin
Well I suppose I'll get things started. I'm Geoff and I went to SMFA in Boston. I write short stories, I write and record music, and of course I'm a designer and illustrator. My last GEF lesson was "Make Bark and Leaf Rubbings" for PreK-2, and I'm about to upload "Little Red Hen Grinds Wheat."
So anyway, that's that. If anyone's interested, you can check out my website by clicking here.
Okay, so who's next?

Welcome!
Hi everyone,
Welcome to the GEF Artist's online Blog! Since the work for the Green Education Foundation is mostly remote, I have decided to create an online blog where all of you can introduce yourselves, add photo's, share video's, post your art, etc. Remember- this blog is just for you guys, so you can also blog about non-work related things as well!
You should all have received an e-mail inviting you to become an author for this blog. If you have any questions, or you have not received an e-mail, first check your spam filter, then shoot me an e-mail.
Thanks everyone, and enjoy!
Jess
